Tapatan, plane crashes and Jolly ol' St. Nicholas

Math
Mad minute Division facts 
The students had an introductory game of Tapatan, which is a game of strategy played on a game board with a geometric design. 




Classwork/Homework 

Lesson 1 Math Makes Sense grade 6 Investigating Angles Page 84 - 85 Questions 1 - 6 


Grade 5 lesson 2 Measuring and Constructing Angles  
The students worked in small groups to solve word problems involving angles .


Language 
The students reading hatchet took up activities for chapters 1 and  2. 
They read chapter three and were assigned a chapter activity. Please see below. 

Students reading 80 days dove right into chapter 3. 

Chapter 3 activity 
Around the World in 80 Days
Part 1 
Create 5 - 10 comprehension questions to summarize the chapter. 
Part 2 
Math problem 
Convert 80 days to hours and then to minutes. Verify whether Phileas Fogg's calculations are correct.

Chapter 3 activity 
Hatchet 
Brian describes in detail the event of his plane crash. In the first person point of view, describe in detail an accident. For example, car or bike crash, breaking a glass punch bowl etc. 


 French

UOI
For the Canada`s first Nations assignment, the students will complete a group research project of a first nation group. The students will have to research how this group lived off of the environment, draw maps to show the territory they occupied and the creation story they believe. 

The students assigned tasks to group members to be started over the weekend for the next class.  

Drama 
Students shared ideas for the Christmas concert. 

Gym 
Secret phrase, blue bears are the Tapatan champions!
Thank you to Sarah and Oliver, who lead the stretches before our volleyball lesson. The students played a thrilling game. New unit to start next week.
