The first of the month assembly was bright with house colours. Mr. Playford lead a thoughtful discussion on the IB Learner Profile and Attitudes for the month of October.
Learner profile (attribute): knowledgeable
Attitude: independent

For the month of September - Adelle was selected for Principal's Choice. She was an excellent inquirer and very curious. She especially impressed me when, she conducted in depth research for the funeral of Cleofishra.

The star student of the week in the grade 5/6 class was Maple. She  worked tirelessly on several extra homework assignments last week. Her hard work paid off. Great job!

***Show your work for most questions until you're proficient in the skill of long division.***

The grade 6's used this as a revision lesson from last year. The grade 5's made a big leap from dividing 2-digit numbers to 4- digit numbers. Remember your mnemonic for long division.

IB students are internationally minded. The Maples Academy has a long history of entering the Lions Club International annual Peace Poster competition. This competition allows young people to engage in discussion, explore their views on peace, and creatively express what peace means to them. The 2016 -2017 contest theme is "A Celebration of Peace."

Students need to complete a planning process. There will be a minimum of 3 stages.

  1. Rough plan
  2. Rough sketch
    2.a Rough sketch 2
2.b Rough sketch 3 etc. etc. (as many alterations, and edits needed)
  3. Good copy
In class, the students brainstormed their ideas, and went over contest rules.

Please let me know your intended dimension of your poster by Wednesday  October 12th, 2016
