As world citizens, we watched live with great interest the presidential exchange south of the boarder. When the students comment or criticize they should have informed opinions. Mr. Trump comes up often in class, whether we are discussing his campaign, speeches or using him as the butt of a joke.

After the students arrive home, Shannen receives a call from Cindy Blackstock who asks if she would consider writing a letter to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child. The prime minister of Canada makes a public apology to all First Nation, Inuit, and Métis people for the government’s policy of forcing children to attend residential schools.
1. What is the United Nations? What is the Convention on the Rights of the Child? Name rights that children have.
2. What is an activist? Can you name some well known activists in Canada and around the world?
5. Can you think of ways to end poverty on reserves?
