The students practiced their spelling words in a more formal setting.
The students continued work on their essays.

Properties of Air
The grade 5's and 6's made hypotheses about heating and cooling air. They made predictions about what happens to the air in the bottle when it was heated in boiling water and cooled in freezing cold water.
Then they were split into two teams to design and build a garbage bag hot air balloon. The students conducted the inquiry in the gymnasium and the second trial outdoors. Following the scientific method, they needed to make some adjustments to their design. The initial changes didn't improve much. The final open bottom design worked best.
