We had a fun day skiing at Blue Mountain yesterday. It was great to have everyone come and enjoy the outdoors on a rare day that didn't have a wind chill in the -20's (or more).
Back at school today, the students had one last period to finish up work on their unit of inquiry project. Students will have a chance to share what they made and what they found out with the rest of the class tomorrow morning.
We had a very productive math class. The grade 5's applied their knowledge of adding decimals to figure out how to subtract decimals. They were assigned questions from the textbook on p. 137 #2, 3, 4-6 and 8. The grade 6's learned how to multiply and divide decimals by 10, 100, 1000 and 10 000. We discussed moving the decimal and not just "adding zeros" like they've been doing for a few years. They completed questions on p. 139 #2, 3, 5 and 7 and p. 141 #1, 2, 4, 7 and 8.
During our final period, students were asked to finish their OWA in language for this term. If they completed that, they were to go back to their unit of inquiry project. Some students finished both and had some free time. Jasmine and Karlynn did a great job putting up a new art bulletin board. After, some students got together to play a game of Clue.
Remember that tomorrow is our St. Patrick's spirit day and students can come dressed in anything green or St. Patrick's Day related.
