Welcome back from break! It was great hearing about what everyone did the past two weeks. We had a smaller class today as some students are still on holiday.
In the morning, we went to gym and played badminton. We played a round robin format, with Mr. Hunt joining in and playing so that we could have 4 teams.
We continued our decimals unit in math. Grade 5's learned about a lie their teachers have been telling them for years about multiplying by 10's. They've always been told to "add a zero," but we discovered today why they can't do that. They practiced moving the decimal in their homework book on p. 60 #1, 2 and p. 61 #2 and 3. Grade 6's worked together to go over multiplying and dividing decimals by 10's.
During our language period the students were returned many items that have been graded. Students were asked to take their work binders home to show what they've been doing in class. If you do not see this binder and would like to, let me know. Students also completed the next OWA writing, which is opinion/persuasive writing.
The final period of the day was the unit of inquiry. Students completed reflection sheets for the last unit and inserted work that they chose to meet the requirements.
