Leap Day Monday February 29th

This weeks Star Student of the Week is Cole. Cole went above and beyond to mange his time last week and voluntarily stayed in during recess to complete his homework.  Excellent work!


Math 
The grade 6's worked on strategies toolkit - problem solving with money.
The grade 5's began their work with capacity. They used beakers and graduated cylinders to measure the capacity of everyday containers such as a water bottle and coffee mug.

Grade 6 Homework Page 219 question 1 and 2
Grade 5 Homework Page 209 questions 1 - 5 in class
(2 - 4) at home if you don't have the materials.

Language
The students worked on Novel Study. A80 read chapter 22. Continue onto chapter 23 when completed.
The students also worked on their narrative Desert Disaster.

French

UOI 
An inquiry into the United States of America. The grade 5/6's started learning about the different qualities that make the U.S. one of the largest economies in the world and why they are Canada's #1 trading partner.

The students read pages 126 - 129 from  Canada and its Trading Partners text. They are learning how to paraphrase and take notes in preparation for the Exhibition. 

The USA notes will cover:


  • geography 
  • people 
  • government 
  • imports/exports 
  • economy 
  • natural resources 

Gym

Second lesson into fitness, the students had a more challenging circuit. The exercises this time included:


  1. knock down pylons 
  2. burpees
  3. planks 
  4. agility skills
