Math class was productive this morning. The grade 5's took up some work then practiced multiplying with multiples of 10. They realized that ignoring the zero's, multiplying the rest and then putting the zero's back in was the best method for solving the equations. They practiced on p. 54 #1-5. The grade 6's continued using mental math to complete questions on p. 51 #1-5 and 8.
The students put their soccer skills to good use in gym class as we played our first outdoor game. Player of the game definitely goes to Bramley for scoring all 5 of her teams goals.
In language, we took up yesterday's questions. The class is really improving with their answers by making them more complete and ensuring that they've answered all parts of the question. After, they read chapter 6 and answered the 4 questions that went along with it.
Our classroom turned into a construction zone during our unit of inquiry. Lots of improvements were made to the boats. Groups seemed to have learned from the problems of their boats the previous day. One group is already satisfied and finished with their boat and I'm sure a few others are close. Friday should be a fun test day!
