Today, in language, the students took their newspaper article written response from yesterday's class and transposed it to the computer. They were asked to format their page so that it appears as a real newspaper article would. They needed to include a picture, along with their writing and headline. We will continue with this task tomorrow.
Our math period began with the grade 5's working on subtraction and the grade 6's finishing up prime and composite numbers. The 5's were given p. 46 #1-4 in their textbook and p. 19 #1, p. 20 #1 and p. 21 #2 and SYT. The grade 6's completed the textbook work on p. 46/47 #5-7 and 9 and began the homework book work on p. 20 #1-3 and p. 21 #2-4.
Instead of our unit of inquiry, I thought it would be valuable for the students to watch a video about Terry Fox with our running happening tomorrow. This documentary tells the story from the perspective of Terry's friend, who drove the van they travelled in on Terry's run. You could see how thoughtful and reflective the students were while watching this movie.
Please remember to bring in your Terry Fox pledge forms and money tomorrow so that we can all watch Mr. P. get dumped with spaghetti and tomato sauce.
