With our Terry Fox Run happening Friday afternoon, art was moved to the morning. Most students were able to finish recreating "The Scream". Everyone had their picture taken and will need to glue it on to their picture next week.
For math, the grade 5's had all their work from yesterday taken up. They were also able to go over the multiplication tables up to 12. We talked about which ones are easier to remember (0, 1, 2, 5, 9, 10, 11) and how practice should be focused to the more difficult ones like 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 12. The grade 6's also had work taken up. They needed to make some corrections and then extra practice was added to go over the prime and composite numbers from 2 - 30.
In the afternoon, both grades had their language skills taken up and they had time to write their articles. Some students are beginning to finish and will have some editing to do early next week.
To cap off our day we went outside for the Terry Fox Run. The pre-run show included Mr. P. getting spaghetti and sauce dumped on his head by 3 students. Afterwards, all the students ran extremely hard and demonstrated great determination and community spirit. They should all be proud of their fundraising and running efforts.
Next week the students will be partnering up and building a small boat during our unit of inquiry. The goal of this boat is to support weight and it must be able to fit in a large punch bowl. All design and construction will happen at school. All the students need to do is bring in some "junk" and/or craft materials that could be used in their boat design.
Hope you have a great weekend!
