Students began language by reading an article from the magazine/newspaper they brought in. They were directed to highlight or take note of the 5 W's (who, what, where, when and why) and also write any adjective or verbs that made the writing more interesting. Tomorrow they will select a topic to write a report on. We also had time to share our literature circle jobs and start the next round.
The grade 6's continued working on solving equations with missing numbers in math. They were assigned p. 18 #1, 3-6. The grade 5's had their textbook work taken up before being assigned p. 8 and 9 in their homework book. They were finishing up using tables to solve problems and predict later events.
During our unit of inquiry the students finished typing their list of 10 decisions they would make if they were the leader of an ancient civilization. Many students were able to complete their list and have it checked by me for improvement suggestions. It should be completed and ready to read to the class tomorrow.
Below is a picture of the monthly learner profile attribute and attitude board. Our class was responsible for the presentation. Thinker and confidence were the topics and we presented them using the classic game show Family Feud.
