This morning the students began the planning phase of the article they will be writing in language. They were directed to choose a topic, research facts, think about how to make it interesting/entertaining and then organize their thoughts. When selecting a topic, they were instructed to make sure they knew what the point/purpose of their article would be. After first recess, they met with their literature circle groups.
In gym, the class was divided into three teams to play a round robin tournament. Two teams played while the other practiced. Each team had an opportunity to play the other two teams twice.
Both grades had work to take up in math. The grade 6's corrected questions with missing numbers and the grade 5's took up making tables of values that followed a pattern. The grade 5's started the "Show What You Know" in the back of the chapter. The grade 6's will have their next lesson tomorrow about integers.
Following the last recess we headed over to the library to do a book exchange. When we returned, students had their list of 10 things they would do if they were the leader of an ancient civilization printed. Some students shared the items on the list and the rest will share tomorrow during the unit of inquiry.
As you can see from the picture below, everyone received a bracelet that was hand made in Jamaica, thanks Jasmine!
