Who we are - The Exhibition

Homework and Reminders 

  • Unit 16 spelling test Friday

  • UOI - 15 to 30 minutes research of your preliminary topics/ ideas

Happy Easter 

The students dressed quite fashionably in their Easter colours. 

Tomorrow is Casual day. 

Math

Measuring Mass - the grade 5's learned about the units of metric  mass and some real life examples such as 1 Kg bag of pasta and 1 g pebble. 

Volume of a rectangular prism - the grade 6's learned how to calculate the volume of the rectangular prism. 

Language 

Unit 16 spelling pre-test. 
Work period for spelling unit 16 and grammar unit 10. 

Music

As usual after lunch the students had a music lesson with Mrs. Angus. Parents please check their agenda to see which pieces they have been asked to practice.


UOI (The Exhibition)

The grade 5/6 began with an brief explanation of the project and the roles of everyone involved. 'Who We Are' the theme of this year's exhibition. According to the curriculum this unit is an inquiry into the nature of the self; beliefs and values; personal, physical, mental, and social and spiritual health; human relationships including families, friends, communities, and cultures; rights and responsibilities; what it means to be human. 

Some topics that arose today; 
  • rights of woman/girls
  • civil rights
  • poverty
  • animal rights 
  • refugees 
  • terrorism
I am an animal lover. Issues involving animals include; animal cruelty, loss of habitat, animal neglect etc. 

Please discuss with your child some topics that are relevant to them. 


Science Club
