I’m thrilled to be welcoming this
year’s grade 5 and 6 class to the 2016 – 2017 academic year.
The summer is unofficially over, but I’m
confident that everyone is eager to return to school. This summer was filled
with many adventures, and I have interesting stories to share with my
students. One of the greatest joys of being
a teacher is building rapport. Some of my best recollections of fascinating student
stories. I look forward to getting to
know each and every one of you more closely.
You can look forward to an exciting
year of learning, growth, exploration and inquiry. Over the summer the teachers
at St. Jude’s and the Maples have collaborated to design new STEM focused units.
New to the curriculum this year Coding
and Flight.

This summer I demonstrated the IB
attribute, thinker. In July I began a four-week professional development
course, Making the PYP Happen in the Classroom. Through the workshop I was able to work
collaboratively within groups to increase my understanding of the PYP
curriculum model.
One of the aims of the IB curriculum is to develop lifelong learners. One
of the greatest joys of the teaching
profession include constantly learning new and innovative ways to teach. I am
happy to be a member of The Maples Academy/St. Jude’s Academy community that
supports and facilitates this philosophy.
