Ah-Maze-ing!

Reminders
Thank you to the parents that have already done so. Please return the registration package for the next academic year.

Math
The grade 6’s took up their homework from the previous lesson. They also had a period to complete problems from the Jump Math exercise book page 131, Continuous Line Graphs. Following this exercise, they worked on mean, median and mode. No homework this evening, there will be another work period tomorrow.

The grade 7’s completed the second part of their 9.2 investigation. They conducted a school wide survey. Their inquiry question was, is a quarter of the population’s favourite colour blue? They calculated that 25% of The Maples community likes blue. Excellent inquiry skills!
See unit syllabus for suggested homework problems 9.5 and section 9.6.

An Inquiry into Physical and Health Education
As usual please check out Miss. Cranfield’s blog.
An Inquiry into Language
The grade 6’s continued reading chapter 16. We had a deep discussion about the factors that contribute high school graduation rates.
Unit 25 spelling pre-test was administered. No grammar skills this week.

UOI
The students explored commands to an arcade style maze game. For homework, students are encouraged to look for videos on YouTube, web forums, or the Scratch Library for ideas. The lesson will resume tomorrow. At the end of the lesson they had an opportunity to share their work with the class.

Unit Reflection’s
The grade 6’s had an opportunity to reflect on the previous unit. They collected samples of their best work, something they worked hard on, something to improve on and a piece that demonstrated an IB attribute.
