Our class was responsible for the first of the month assembly this morning. The students were able to show off some of the projects that they have completed this year, while talking about how they used open-mindedness, cooperation and creativity. Ms. Clapham organized the house games, which you can see pictured below.
After the assembly, we only had a brief time for language. The grade 6's were assigned the reading of chapter 8 and the grade 5's had chapter 6 taken up. The grade 5's were also asked to answer 3 questions: What is leukemia? How is it treated? What is the chance of survival?
In math, the grade 6's had already had a lesson on area of parallelogram, so they could start to work right away. The were assigned p. 353/354 #2-5, 7 and 8 in their textbook and p. 136 #1 and p. 137 #1-3, SYT in their homework book. The grade 5's had their textbook work taken up from last week. They also worked on the homework book pages for that lesson on p. 134 and 135.
With the speech competition tomorrow, the speakers from our class were able to practice in the gym. Each speaker went on the stage and went through their whole speech. Following that, we came back to class and Garret showed the class his 3D model of a human body during the unit of inquiry. The students were able to look some bones and muscles and then remove and examine some organs.
