Literature circle groups met for the first time this morning in language after going over the grading scheme. Everyone had an opportunity to present their work from the previous class and some students who were absent will present on Monday. The groups didn't go any further because we ran out of time.
It was review day in math for the grade 5's. We went over all the concepts in the unit and looked at which were hardest and easiest for each student. They were encouraged to do the difficult ones first and make sure they were asking lots of questions and checking their answers. They should come with any questions on Monday before their test. Grade 6's worked on dividing a decimal by a whole digit number. They worked from their textbook on p. 153 #2 and their homework book on p. 64 #1 and p. 65 #1.
After lunch we made groups for exhibition in the unit of inquiry. Groups also selected their topics and we went over how to cite sources.
Art was the final period of the day and students made oil pastel Easter eggs. We looked at designs using the iPad and Apple TV. Students planned out their design before starting their good copy. They were encouraged to use colour and creative design for their eggs.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the light reading you've been given with the report cards and the assessments.
