To start off our morning together the students had gym. We began our fitness circuits today. The students performed one exercise for a minute, then got a 30 second break, followed by another minute of a different exercise. They completed four different exercises and two rotations of the circuit. There was some time left, so I began showing the students how to play my version of European handball, which they will play after the fitness circuits.
The grade 5's completed their math test for the decimal unit. While they were doing that, the grade 6's took up dividing a decimal and then learned about using standard, decimal, fraction and number word form to express large numbers. They completed textbook work and then were given homework book work on p. 44 #1 and 2 and p. 45 #1 for extra practice.
Literature circles continued for the second section of their book in language. Students read and completed their assigned jobs. They will share with the rest of their group tomorrow.
In the unit of inquiry, students brainstormed questions they had about their topic for the exhibition and began gathering research.
