Math + Art = FUN , Wednesday April 15 2015

Rise and shine, the weather was on our side today. It’s a good day for a run! We went outside for a 1000 m run. This is the first stage in rigours conditioning needed for the long distance events of our track and field day. GYM

It wasn’t warm enough to spend the entire period outdoors so we came inside to do fitness and play a match of European handball. The exercises in our circuit included knock down and build up, sit ups, spider man planks and push ups.

Mrs. Ruby dropped in to give part 2 of how to conduct an interview for language.  That was followed by a work period.

For math we continued our study of geometry and looked at symmetry in polygons. We had learned what symmetry was and how to identify it. We will be assessing their symmetry through art. Each student had to write their name on a sheet of paper then copy a symmetrical mirror image. They then used their name to create a something new. Take a look at the process; Karlynn did an excellent job.

We also had some library time after last recess.

During unit of inquiry we shared some of the body paragraphs that we wrote for homework. Students then began self-editing and peer editing before writing their second drafts.

See you tomorrow,
