Happy casual day everyone! To celebrate we took a class photo.
Gym
Our warm-up session was led by Cole; he introduced us to new
challenging stretches.
Fitness stars:
Cole demonstrating excellent squatting form.
Oliver and Molly, feeling the burn, making super straight planks.
In European handball green was victorious over yellow.
During Math the students finished up their work on equivalent fractions.
The grade sixes worked on writing fractions in the simplest form. Afterwards the students
took up the homework and worked through a tricky word problem.
***Grade 5 no math homework***
***Grade 6 homework book page 111 questions 4, 5, and 6***
During the Language lesson Mr. Playford was the guest judge
for our spelling Bee. This was the second trial day in the week long process.
At the end of the week two grade 5 students will be chosen to represent The Maples Academy
at the Knights of Columbus Annual Spelling Bee in Orangeville on the 12th
of May.
Hook, line and sinker! The students learned about the
structure of the introductory paragraph during the Unit of Inquiry lesson. They
explored what a good and bad thesis statement was. The students examined and wrote
a sample introduction paragraph on a familiar topic: "Should students wear
uniforms?" For homework students need to write an introduction for their essay
to accompany the 3 body paragraphs that they have already written to complete
draft 4.
Enjoy the weather this evening.
