Congratulations to Ella, she brought in her softball championship
trophy today. Her team went undefeated last season. The students were very
excited and she shared with us that her favourite position is left field and
she hit a few triple doubles.
The aim of the language
lesson was to develop persuasive writing skills in particular; how to change
the opinion of an audience. The students
worked collaboratively on yes and no arguments for the debate topics;
Should students in our school wear uniforms?
Should every student be required to learn a foreign
language?
Should students be able to skip a grade if their school work
is outstanding?
In Math we had our pre-test for our new unit Fractions and
Decimals (Grade 5), Fractions, rates, ratios and percentages (Grade 6).
The students identified the skills they would need to learn
to be successful within this unit. 1st lesson on fractions will be
on Monday.
Math was followed by library time, Garret helped select
additional books for our Unit of Inquiry. Thanks to Morgan our librarian for
the day.
Lastly, during unit of inquiry the students completed their 3rd draft paragraphs and I edited their drafts and gave notes.
