Good afternoon parents and students, I'm happy to say that
our first day was spectacular! In language
the students worked in their literature circles. The cycle has restarted and
everyone is on their second turn of their roles. After a lengthy discussion
with the group currently reading The Book
of Three, we made many connections about the character Gurgi to characters in Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings; we
all agreed the chapter 9 was very exciting.
In math
we have completed our revision/introduction lesson on coordinate systems. We went over the two types of systems and practised
writing coordinate points. We work on questions 1 – 3 on page 230 and an
accompanying worksheet. After last recess we continued our work on our unit of Inquiry - exhibition.
For
homework students need to complete research on perspectives for their
respective questions and start writing their paragraphs. The focus of this part
of their research is to evaluate the local, national and global perspectives; as
well as, the perspectives from different groups affected by their environmental
issue.
I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity to work at the
Maples Academy and have been warmly welcomed by Mr. Sawatsky, Mr. Playford, parents,
staff and students with open arms. Also, I would like to give a big thank you
to Mr. Scott for all of your help and support with the transition.
Thank you kindly,
Mr. A Hunt
