Today in gym we had another invigorating workout session in our fitness unit.
Today’s stations included burpies, skipping, planks and deltoid raises. This
was followed by a thrilling game of European handball.
The word of
the day is transformations; we
flipped, turned and slid through today’s math
lesson. We discussed the rules for each of the 3 types of transformations;
translation, rotation and reflection. With the help of Mrs. Ruby worked through
some examples and the students worked out the problems in groups. Tomorrow we
will take up the homework (relevant pages and questions can be found in the
events and reminders section).

video to help with transformations.
In Language we worked on language
skills unit 12 grade 5’s was and for the grade 6’s. The Spelling Bee word lists
were distributed today. The top 2 grade 5’s will go onto participate in the Knights of Columbus Spelling Bee competition
in May here in Orangeville. We then finished off the work period by presenting
our roles from our literature circles we completed on Tuesday.
Unit of inquiry was a full work
period on the perspectives aspect of their research. It was very productive and
I was able to meet with each group to give feedback and direction.
Last but
certainly not least, Richard. I have received several requests from the
students, “PLEASEEEE, can we have a class pet?” Last, night I picked up a small
Dragon Tree and we have made him our first class pet. Hopefully with lots of love and care he will grow and flourish
and in the future we can explore the idea of getting a pet that moves.
Cordially
yours,
Aldaine Hunt
