This morning’s English/language lesson the students were assigned to read the first 3 chapters of their novels. For each book students have to complete a word wizard activity, with a minimum of 5 words per chapter. In the next lesson we will have an interesting discussion around the new vocabulary introduced in the respective novels. Since the each book takes place in a different time period; 1880’s, 1900’s, and 1960’s we can compare the different language used across all 3.

The second activity assigned to the students was; Treasure Island novel study will create
a Venn diagram to compare main characters Long John and Jim. The students
reading Up the Road Slowly will write
a detailed prediction for the rest of the novel. Lastly, students studying the Teacher’s Funeral will write a
chapter summary. This will be class work until the exhibition is over, then
regular homework in all subjects will resume.
During the Math
lesson students worked on problems from the homework book and text book. The grade
5’s will continue relating fractions to decimal word problems tomorrow. The
grade 6’s will learn about subtracting fractions in the next lesson.
Garret, made Thor's hammer with base 10 blocks, MATH POWER!!!!
During the unit of
inquiry work period students began to set up the tri-fold boards and
edited their information blurbs that would be presented. Everyone is working
diligently and I am very impressed.
We also read the TRUE story of the Three Little Pigs. This will be the play we put on for the spring
concert. We will start rehearsing the script towards the end of the week.
**Having a bit of fun with the postcard function on my camera, "Cole, smile!"
