All the students looked well rested from their long weekend. I hope everyone had a great few days off.
This morning in language the students went right to work on their interviews. Students were provided with copies of the interview we did as a class with Santa Claus, which also had the expectations for their interview listed on the bottom. I would expect that many students will be finishing their interviews tomorrow in class. Thursday will be an opportunity to have it edited and to make revisions. It should be ready to hand in on Friday.
Final preparations for our math test on Friday are well underway. The grade 5's were completing their work on division. They completed question #3, 4, and 5 in their textbook, before moving onto p. 32 #1 and p. 33 #2 in their homework book. Grade 6's had work taken up on division. They displayed great skill in answering straight division questions, but needed some extra practice on word problems. They were assigned p. 74 #4, 6, 9, 10 and 12-14.
In health, our topic of substance use and abuse focused on alcohol. Students realized that alcohol is not something a person needs, but many adults do drink. They came up with reasons why someone might drink alcohol, in addition to recognizing that the legal age limit to drink is 19.
To conclude the day, students worked on unit #4 of their language skills. This will be due on Friday.
