The students practiced a new volleyball skill today in gym class. The were taught the bumping technique. As they practice the skill with partner, adjustments were made to make their passes more accurate and "useful".
The grade 6's continued with work on input/output machines in math. They answered questions from their homework book. Grade 5's had work from the previous day taken up and then were introduced to solving number patterns. They explored several different types of patterns: growing, shrinking and repeating. They also looked at patterns that alternated and increased by differing amounts. They only had time to test their new skills on one questions, but will have more practice tomorrow.
After lunch, the students went to the gym to watch a puppet show about cancer. The puppets talked about how cancer affects a child's life and how support from friends is very important.
In the unit of inquiry, all three groups finished their write up and were able to formally charge Mrs. Burke with the theft of the trophy. Of course, Mrs. Burke denied doing it, but the trophy was found in her drawer.
Following our successful arrest, the students got into their reading groups and read the first section of their book and completed the required job for language. They will present their information to their groups tomorrow.
