To start language, we had to finish discussing our literature circle jobs. We needed to go over the different types of questions that a person can ask. We made examples of literal, inferential, interpretive and opinion questions. The class was divided into their book groups and they organized who was going to begin with each job. Students were able to start reading their new novels, but didn't get very far. We will pick up the reading tomorrow.
The grade 5's were assigned work in math from both their textbook and homework book because they had the whole period to work on questions. They were given p. 10/11 #1-5 in their textbook and p. 4 and 5 in their homework book. The grade 6's learned a strategy for solving input/output machines with 2 machines and then worked on p. 8/9 from their textbook.
During the unit of inquiry, students worked on their write ups for the mystery. All groups finished their first draft and began making corrections after it was edited by me.
