To start our language class, we examined how to insert quotations marks into writing. The students looked at passage and determined where the necessary punctuation should go. They were also presented with how to properly write when 2 or more people are talking. Following that, they got into their groups and went through their literature circle routine.
In math, the grade 5's learned how input/output machines could be turned into tables with practical purposes. They were assigned questions on p. 14/15 #1-4 of their textbook. The grade 6's had their work on number patterns taken up before learning about the divisibility rules. They were given the necessary strategies to figure out if any number is divisible by a single digit number (excluding 7).
The last period of the day was our new unit of inquiry. The new unit will explore ancient civilizations. We are going to focus our study to Egypt, Greece and Rome. Today, the students listed the various topics that they would like to cover and what things they are hoping to learn about.
Please remember that tomorrow is causal day!
