Our math unit on patterns is slowly coming to an end. Everyone has finished the questions and is now working on the performance task. All performance tasks will be wrapped up tomorrow. The grade 5 task has to do with a caterpillar that is a growing pattern of shapes and the grade 6 task is about answering questions to make money.
Today was the final day of literature circles in language. All groups completed their book and jobs. There was plenty of time for article writing. Many students had their work checked and suggestions made for improvement.
In the unit of inquiry, students finished the lifestyle chart of the ancient civilizations we are studying. They were also introduced to the first project which is to create a artifact from one of the civilizations. They can make a tool, clothing, pottery, scaled model, etc. They are allowed to make it out of any material they wish and bring it in next Friday as we turn our class into a museum. Some students were also had time to write their name in "hieroglyphics".
