Our morning started with literature circles in language. Reading groups will only meet two or three times more before their book is finished. When students finished their daily jobs, they had an opportunity to work on their article.
In math, grade 5 students finished up the "Show What You Know" section. They then completed some questions for grading. The final assignment in math is a performance task that a few students were able to start about patterns in caterpillar made of shapes. The grade 6's took up work and completed questions from their "Show What You Know" section. They will also be doing a performance task next week.
Since the trees are bare outside these days, I decided to have the students do an art project to represent this. The used paint to create a moonlit night with a bare tree in front. The used varying shades of grey to create the sky and black for the tree.
We also managed to squeeze in some time for the unit of inquiry. Today we looked at how the Roman style of governing was different from the Egyptians. We also discussed some of the original leaders and their roles.
In addition to the picture of our art class, you will also find a picture of my Movember mustache after the first week of growth. I'll update the picture every week to show my progress. Enjoy your weekend!
