Students had the opportunity to present their article topic to me in language this morning. Once their topic was approved, they were asked to brainstorm what they wanted to write about and organize their thoughts into groups.
Grade 5's continued working on the "Show What You Know" section in math. They were assigned questions 3, 5 and 6. The grade 6's received a lesson on integers. We explored areas in society when you need negative numbers. They were assigned questions 1 and 3 on p. 22 in their textbook.
"Why is King Tut famous?" was the topic of discussion during our unit of inquiry. The students listed several reasons why leaders of the past were well know. Fighting great battles, conquering land and having monuments built in their honour were just a few of the ideas presented. However, King Tut was an unremarkable as a leader. So why all the fuss over this king? We also had discussions on artifacts left in burial chambers and burying practices of the Egyptian people.
