After our long, fun day of skiing yesterday, we started off today with gym. The students practiced dribbling a basketball with both hands and then bouncing the ball from one hand to the other. The focus today was dribbling below the waist and bending the knees. Following that practice we did some relays and added a new challenge to each relay.
Both grades had work to take up in math. After the take up, the grade 6's used their knowledge from graphs and coordinate grids and applied it to scatter plots. The observed trends in scatter plots on p. 76 #1 and p. 77 #1 in their homework books. The grade 5's began to learn how to ask useful survey questions and will continue tomorrow. There is a math unit test scheduled for next Wednesday.
In the afternoon the students had music, followed by language. With only one period left to complete their children's book, students were busy illustrating and colours pictures.
The classroom speech presentation date has been set for Tuesday, January 27th. Our class' presentations (along with the grade 4's) will begin at 9:10 a.m. and will probably go until 10:30. All students should be finished writing their speech by the end of this week, so that they have plenty of time for memorization and practicing of oral presentation techniques.
