Artists in the classroom/ St. Paddy's Day

St. Paddy's Spirit Day

Homework
"Come to my country brochure" Deadline extension. Monday March 21st, 2016/ or submitted electronically anytime over March Break.

Art/Special Event!

According to Garret, "[sculpting]... was fascinating, intriguing and delicious!"

It was a delight and privilege to work with Ann Clifford  (acliffordsculpture.com). She came to The Maples Academy via the Dufferin Arts Council initiative, 'Artists in the classroom' . Ann was positive, friendly and knowledgeable. In honour of Black History Month the students explored African Tribal masks as a theme for their sculptures.

This art lesson was combined across grade 5 to 8. We all learned how to create relief sculptures, a few grade 7's and 8's have used the technique previously but for many of us it was new experience.

UOI/LANGUAGE/DANCE
After lunch the grade 5' and 6's submitted their work for their novel study, worked on UOI and danced for the remainder of the afternoon.

The assignment is to compose a routine to a song of their choice. Well done!

Have a safe and happy March Break and see you all in 2 weeks! Enjoy the photos.
